It would support industry-specific compliant solutions for healthcare companies, federal agencies, and commercial industries
Provider of global data centre services Equinix, and web hosting services provider for government and private organisations Carpathia Hosting said they planned to build a 64,000 sqft data centre in Dulles, Va., whose aim would be to support industry-specific compliant solutions for healthcare companies, federal agencies, and commercial industries.
Carpathia inked build-to-suit agreement with a joint venture featuring Equinix and Digital Realty Trust to build the IBX Vault, a Platform Equinix facility.
The new data centre is to be built adjacent to the existing Carpathia Vault in Dulles, Va. as per current standards, said Carpinthia Hosting.
The IBX Vault, which will have multiple tier 1 telecommunications carriers, will be connected to other DC-metro area IBX data centres via a secure, private fibre connection enabling customers to easily cross-connect between the IBX Vault and Equinix D.C.-metro area IBXs, providing access to more than 690 providers for internet, peering, Ethernet and wide area network (WAN) services across Platform Equinix, the company added.
Equinix has indicated its intentions to manage the facility, while Carpathia will provide armed, physical security at the new IBX Vault site.
Carpathia will also be the exclusive provider of complex and compliant managed hosting and cloud services in the IBX Vault.
Equinix president of the Americas Charles Meyers said they continue to see strong demand for Platform Equinix in the Washington, D.C. market, and Equinix was investing in the new IBX Vault facility to support the secure, compliant hosting requirements of their federal and commercial customers in that metro.
