Fujitsu introduces public cloud service

CBR Staff Writer Published 10 June 2011

Claims to provide On-Demand Virtual System Service or its equivalent via access to datacentres in each region

Fujitsu has introduced its public cloud service in the UK, the US, Australia, Singapore and Germany based on its Global Cloud Platform strategy announced in 2010.

The public cloud service will allow local customers in regions throughout the world and global corporations with local operations to take advantage of On-Demand Virtual System Service or its equivalent via access to datacentres in each region, said the company.

The Global Cloud Platform delivers Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) -- virtual information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, such as servers and storage functionality over a network from Fujitsu's datacentres.

In addition, the service provides resources that can be employed on-demand and tailor-made to customers' needs, without requiring advance configuration of ICT systems.

Fujitsu said that in Japan, the new service, which had been offered as the On-Demand Virtual System Service, will now be known as 'FGCP/S5.' Globally, the service will be delivered under the name of Global Cloud Platform.
