IBM inks five-year service agreement with CMA CGM

CBR Staff Writer Published 16 February 2012

IBM will deliver IT services that will help CMA CGM to reduce costs

IBM and shipping operator CMA CGM Group announced a new five-year strategic partnership.

Under the agreement, IBM will support CMA CGM's growth by delivering information technology services that will help it reduce costs.

IT teams from both the companies have also agreed to form a new subsidiary, which would be known as CMA Systems.

The new subsidiary will have an equally represented governance structure and report directly to Jacques Saade, chairman and chief executive officer of CMA CGM.

The new services and technologies developed by CMA Systems, along with its unified organisation, will enable the company to generate substantial savings in 2012, CMA CGM officials said.

CMA CGM chairman and chief executive officer Jacques Saade said technologies from IBM will help CMA CGM to further improve its customer service.

IBM France president Alain Benichou said the new collaboration will allow IBM to support CMA CGM in driving efficiencies and increasing innovation with new technologies such as cloud and analytics.
