SQS bags managed services contract from UK energy firm Centrica

CBR Staff Writer Published 21 April 2011

SQS to provide on and offshore testing, with a focus on reducing risk within Centrica's business critical systems

SQS Software Quality Systems, a Germany-based pure play supplier of independent software testing and quality management services, has signed a managed services contract worth £8m with Centrica, the UK based integrated energy company.

As per the contract, SQS will provide Centrica with on and offshore testing, with a focus on raising quality and reducing risk within their business critical systems such as the Smart Metering programme, which is designed to be installed in over two million homes.

The contract, which commences immediately and will run over 12 months, involves SQS providing end-to-end testing, from performance through to automated regression test suites, in an on and offshore model.

This contract has resulted in improved revenue visibility for SQS and represents a continuation of existing business volumes with Centrica, which has made a longer commitment than the previous project-based contracts.

SQS board director David Cotterell said they are delighted that Centrica has extended its commitment to SQS, demonstrating the high value it places on partnering with a pure play, independent testing provider with a proven on and offshore presence.

"As well as providing greater revenue visibility this contract demonstrates the success of the ongoing strategic investment into our Managed Services business," Cotterell said.
